Troop Return Date “Not Too Important”
John McCain was on the Today Show a day or two ago. It’s a decent interview where he gives his stump speech about clean energy, getting off our foreign oil habit. He makes a push again for his Gas Tax holiday during the summer that he and Hillary Clinton tried proposing to pander to the lower class, and give the benefit of the advantage to large trucking industry, and airlines, and other gas guzzling companies. The only problem is he doesn’t care about the little guy, he just wants their vote. But that’s not the fun part of this clip. 5 minutes and forty seconds a question begins: does McCain have a better estimate of when our troops are coming home from Iraq. McCain’s answer is very telling. He says, “No, but that’s not too important” and then proceeds to do his standard bit about ‘caring’ for troops, and saying that eventually they will come home with honor and in victory, as apposed to defeat like “Obama”.Yeah, I’m sorry, Mr McCain, but did you already declare “Mission Accomplished” in Iraq? Did you not say that we would be greeted as liberators once we invaded? Why, then, are we in danger of losing a war we already won, that’s no longer a war? Everyone seems to give McCain a pass on the war because of his tour in Viet Nam and his extended stay at the Hanoi Hilton. While I have the deepest sympathies for his experiences, it just doesn’t seem like he’s taken his hard-earned lessons to heart. This guy is seriously has some issues with his stance on his issues. The man was tortured, and then didn’t vote for a bill condemning torture. The man who claims to support the troops, but doesn’t support giving them an education in order to keep them stuck in the military. I’m sorry, but that’s not supporting the troops, that’s enslaving the troops. That’s not standing up against torture, that’s turning a blind eye to the torture conducted and sanctioned by this government. I know it’s tough, believing some random dude on the internet so, back by popular demand, the YouTubes are at it again with some Straight Talk. Take it away, McCain!
